A few days ago our favorite editor ViM was released under the new major version 7. According to the announce mail some new exciting stuff was included, like
- Spell checking support for about 50 languages
- Intelligent completion for C, HTML, Ruby, Python, PHP, etc.
- Tab pages, each containing multiple windows
- Highlighting of cursor line, cursor column and matching braces
- Printing multi-byte text
For a complete list please read the announcement. While I am still waiting for a upgraded port for FreeBSD its nice to see that vim compiles out-of-the-box on a 6-STABLE. :)
The Vim 7 – the graphical introduction is a nice way to see the new features in action.
